Letter from the Chairman

Dear partners who care about the sustainable development of Sigurd:

Looking ahead to 2024, amidst the global economic recovery, climate change and sustainable development remain at the core of global issues. Although the COP28 resolution did not explicitly eliminate fossil fuels, it indicated an acceleration of the net-zero transition of the energy system, and the imposition of carbon fees has also increased the challenges faced by businesses. Furthermore, the rapid development of AI digital technology innovation will continue to influence consumer behavior and business models, sparking waves of business innovation. Moreover, the international situation, driven by the Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Palestine conflict, and geopolitical risks, has also caused fluctuations in material supply and energy markets, testing the capabilities of enterprises in supply chain management, cost control, and risk assessment, which is a reality that cannot be ignored. In such a context, all colleagues at the Sigurd Group remains committed to our consistent spirit, adhere to our sustainable development commitment, and demonstrate progressive performance. Especially through innovative thinking and digital technology, as the driving force for Sigurd Group's operational resilience, sustainable development, and business operation breakthroughs, we are steadily moving forward in sustainable business operations and confidently overcoming challenges.

2024 marks a significant year for Sigurd to actively transform towards a low-carbon value chain. Within the Sustainable Development Committee, following the establishment of the Carbon Management and Renewable Energy Task Force, a Supply Chain Management Task Force has also been formed, actively coordinating the planning and implementation of the transition towards net-zero emissions. In addition to continuously promoting energy conservation and carbon reduction measures as well as the use of renewable energy, Sigurd has also committed to setting future targets of achieving 30% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% renewable energy by 2050, demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability through concrete actions and aligning with international initiatives.

In 2024, geopolitics, extreme weather conditions, and technological innovation will emerge, shaping new challenges and opportunities. Faced with this volatile situation, Sigurd firmly believes that strengthening honest and robust corporate governance, introducing automated systems, and managing innovative technologies to promote a low-carbon transition, as well as fostering sustainable development in harmony with society, are the core strategies of our group. These are also our deep expectations for building a common future with colleagues, customers, and shareholders. At the same time, we are considering expanding the sustainable influence of the Company, rooting downwards into the ESG sustainable spirit and integrating it into daily operations, and expanding outwards to supply chain partners, jointly setting sustainable goals and promoting sustainable supply chains. Together, we aim to create "green value" for customers, and ultimately implement a sustainable strategy with stakeholders that focuses on "shared prosperity, green net-zero, promoting a friendly society, robust and honest governance, and creating sustainable operations".
